  Student Life @ DIAS Home

Recognizing the fast pace of environmental changes, DIAS undertakes overall personality development programmes for the students on a continuing basis. These programmes focus not only on the intellectual but also physical and social development. The objective of such programmes is to equip the students to keep pace with the changing environment. For this purpose 'fit' as well as 'stretch' approach has been adopted by the Institute.

The Institute focuses on four core areas of personality development:
  • Knowledge
  • Skills
  • Attitude
  • Fitness

Methodology adopted by the Institute

Knowledge and skills development at DIAS is achieved through the following:
  • Lectures
  • Case studies
  • Role play
  • Business games
  • Conferences and seminars involving eminent personalities from industry and academics
  • Management workshops
  • Project study
  • Communication exercise in writing, speaking and listening
  • Counselling and guidance programmes
  • Brain storming
  • Industry visits
  • Research
  • Effective interaction with industry through professional training programmes
For physical fitness, facilities are being provided, over a period of time, for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor games.

Forums & Committees

For social development, the Institute has already established a few committees and is in the process of forming several others. Students' representatives are associated with each of these committees. Some of these committees/forums are as under:
  • Academic Programme Committee
  • Business Contact Committee (BCC)
  • Alumni Committee
  • Placement Committee
  • Marketing Forum
  • Finance Forum
  • DIAS Technological Grid
  • Proficiency Cell

Academic Programme Committee
Headed by the chairman of the programme, the committee looks after all the aspects of the academic programme right from continual evaluation of the syllabus and contents of the specific courses to managing the actual logistics of the course.

Business Contact Committee (BCC)
BCC contributes immensely to the richness of the course by organizing meaningful seminars / guest lectures from the business leaders because first hand interaction with industry leaders is something that adds a unique flavour to the programmes.

Alumni Committee
The purpose of an Alumni association needs no emphasis. The Alumni association shall be formed in the year 2003. With every batch passing out, the association will grow. Annual meet of the alumni shall be organized. An alumni directory shall be a regular feature that will facilitate interaction. Such an interaction shall not only enhance the image of the Institute but also shall be instrumental in providing a host of opportunities to the prospective alumnus in terms of placement. For this purpose an Alumni Committee shall be formed.

Placement Committee
Perhaps the greatest manifestations of the students' participation comes in the form of the Placement Committee. The placement committee looks after all the activities related to placements.

Marketing Forum
The forum shall seek to expose the DIAS community to a variety of issues involved with marketing of both goods and services. It shall provide a platform for holding presentation by the student managers on various marketing aspects.

Finance Forum
The forum shall provide an opportunity to stay abreast of the rapidly changing Financial Services Scenario.

DIAS Technological Grid
The Grid has been formed at the Institute to conduct various co-curricular activities with the objective of developing the overall personality of the students. The Grid conducts various programmes from time to time viz.
